Bitten By The Longboard Bug?

You're watching longboarders and think, "That's looks so easy, dude." Just looks like you push-off and then find your balance. But surfing looks easy, too. Just stand up on a wave! You'll learn soon enough that longboarding isn't as easy as it appears. You'll need to practice and it takes skill to do all the cool expert tricks. Read on to learn some excellent tips that will help accelerate your learning.

Please try to use the proper equipment. You may initially feel a bit uncool wearing the protective and safety gear like elbow pads, knee pads, shin guards, and brain box (helmut). But - when you first start out, it won't take long to thank yourself for wearing them. But it's like learning to ride a bike. You'll fall more than you ride, especially true for extreme newbies. You'll get your fair share of abuse before you correctly learn how to stop your speeding board. As you progress, you'll probably decide to leave the safety gear at home. But it's recommended to keep wearing the helmut. It's a good idea to take care of the head area in case something unexpected happens and you fall.

Don't be afraid to longboard slowly. So many new longboarders try to do tricks before they are really ready. The end result is usually the longboardr getting hurt. Just because you managed to ride a few blocks without falling off does not mean that you are ready to do tricks. Doing a board hop takes more skill than you know. Start out slow and steady, then start doing longer distances. Then learn how to start-off fast and stop yourself without falling. When you're confident to longboard steadily for a distance and can maneuver around pedestrians without falling, then you can start thinking about doing tricks. Ok, the two most basic longboarding stances are: Regular and Goofy. For the Regular longboard stance you'll want the left foot forward, and the right foot in the back. The Goofy will be a reverse arrangement. There are four different kinds of push-offs you can do. Regular: Use your right foot to push, Mongo Regular: Push with your front (right) foot, Goofy: Use your left foot, and Mongo Goofy: Push with your front (left) foot. Just keep skating and in time you'll find which one you like best. Fore free help, visit longboarding tutorial!
